“Sappling Distribution”

Encyclical Letter of Pope Francis - Distributing of fruit trees under the leadership of Kairos on 18th June 2024 marking the path to Zero- carbon Neutral Parishes in the Kannur Dioces

As part of creating a green church culture under the leadership of Kairos, fruit tree saplings were distributed to all the parishes under Kannur Diocese. Kannur Bishop Dr. Alex Vadakumthala inaugurated the even with lighting of the lamp. He said that environmental spirituality is the need of the day and not to exploit or worship nature, but to create a lifestyle with nature.

Msngr.Dr. Clarence Paliath presided over the event. Kannur Diocese Procurator Fr. George Painadath addressed the gathering with his welcome speech. Principal of Alphonse College, Kozhikode, Dr. K. P. Chacko Kalaparamabil was the chief guest of the day. He took a class on Environment and the importance of saving Mother nature and covered various aspects such as biodiversity, climate change, pollution, sustainable practices and safeguarding the forest by planting the right trees that are required for the survival of animals. The Director of KAIROS, Fr. Gerorge Mathew organized the event on behalf of the dioceses and a note of thanks was delivered by K.V. Chandran the General Co. Ordinator of KAIROS.
