May Day Celebration by the Diocese of Kannur

The Diocese of Kannur organized a May Day celebration and workers' meeting under the leadership of the Kerala Labor Movement (KLM) and Kairos Kannur. The event was held at St. Joseph's College Auditorium, Pilathara, and was inaugurated by Mr. Rajmohan Unnithan, Member of Parliament for the Kasaragod Constituency.

The May Day message was delivered by the Bishop of Kannur, Most Rev. Dr. Alex Vadakkumthala. KLM Kannur President Mr. Peter Kolakad also graced the occasion. Speeches were given by Kairos Director Fr. George Mathew and KLM Kannur Secretary Ms. Gracy Boniface.

KLM State Director Rev. Fr. Arun Valiyathazhathu provided an overview of the various welfare schemes offered by KLM. Reverend Father Alex honored Mr. Lawrence Chettan, a veteran labor leader who has been working tirelessly for construction workers since 1961, with a memento in recognition of his service.

The program was led by members of the KLM Diocesan Unit and the Kairos staff.
