Training Programme against Substance Abuse in partnership with Fourth Wave Foundation
On October 5, 2024, KAIROS Kannur, in collaboration with the Fourth Wave Foundation, Ernakulam, launched the VENDA project, which addresses substance abuse among children. The event took place at the KAIROS Training Hall in Burnacherry, drawing around 28 mothers who are eager to learn and contribute.
Rev. Fr. Joy Paynadith, Forane Vicar of Kannur, inaugurated the project, highlighting its importance in today's society. He provided an insightful introduction to the VENDA initiative, emphasizing the critical need for community engagement in tackling substance abuse.
The program featured classes led by members of the VENDA team, including Mrs. Manju David and Mr. Mohamed Riyas, who shared valuable strategies for prevention and support. Mr. K.V. Chandran offered his congratulations, underscoring the positive impact of the initiative. Mrs. Jessy Reji welcomed attendees, setting a warm tone for the gathering, while Mrs. Jincy CH, the regional coordinator of KAIROS, expressed gratitude to everyone involved.
The event also saw participation from KAIROS staff and internship students from Rajagiri College in Ernakulam and Karunya College in Coimbatore, enriching the atmosphere with diverse perspectives. Overall, the inauguration marked a significant step towards empowering mothers and fostering peaceful solutions to challenges faced by youth in vulnerable situations.
